Course Outline:

In this presentation, global retirement-transition educator Barry LaValley will help you understand the key non-financial issues to consider in retirement. While this session is not about money, the issues that are raised generally have a financial implication. The goal of the session is to give attendees a better understanding of the relationship between life needs, goals, concerns etc, and their relationship to financial resources and planning. The material delivered by Barry LaValley is a personal, light-hearted style but with a focus on both ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ issues associated with both the transition into retirement and achieving retirement happiness thereafter. Barry has spent the past twenty years researching retirement and the science behind ageing. As a result, he has produced a seminar that is based on science but also on personal stories and anecdotes derived from the thousands of presentations he has delivered over the years.

The issues Barry will cover in his engaging presentation are:

  • The myths and misconceptions around retirement and ageing.
  • How to prepare your mind for retirement.
  • The role of stress in retirement.
  • The ‘Hardy’ retirement personality.
  • The keys to retirement happiness.
  • Retirement and personal relationships.
  • The concept of balanced leisure.
  • Working with your adviser to build a relevant retirement plan.
  • The power of time.

The session is interactive and informal and Barry is known for his personal and humorous presentation style.

Participants will receive a complimentary copy of his book.

Spouses/Partners are welcome to attend.
