Practice teams want confidence their Infection Prevention and Control processes are compliant and best practice to enhance public safety. This can be achieved by clarifying what the correct procedures and processes are and learning how to implement these strategies back at the practice. This course is designed to address the key infection prevention and control areas that apply to a dental practice and discuss how and what to do to ensure compliance. This course focusses on practical implementation of Infection Prevention and Control strategies and is suitable for all members of the dental team.

  • Implementing contemporary Hand Hygiene initiatives
  • Confidence when selecting Personal Protective Equipment
  • Keeping surgical draping procedures and aseptic technique simple
  • Management of clinical waste
  • Setting up the sterilisation room for efficiency and success
  • Cleaning the practice environment
  • Treatment room management and set up
  • Clarity with testing of sterilisers and ultrasonics
  • Managing the lab
  • What to do when reprocessing handpieces and ultrasonic scalers
  • Confidence with managing endodontic files
  • What needs tracking, what doesn’t and how to do it.

About Presenter
Kylie Robb is the Infection Control Consultant for the Australian Dental Association NSW Branch. Kylie utilises her 15 years of experience to provide practical onsite infection prevention and control reviews so dentists can be confident their processes are best practice. Kylie reviewed over 100 dental practices in 2017. Kylie has a keen interest in simplifying regulatory and compliance systems and processes for dental practices. Kylie developed a dental practice accreditation pathway that has led over 600 practices through accreditation for the first time. Kylie was formally recognised as a 2015 HESTA Primary Health Care 'Young Leader' Award finalist for this work. Kylie has a Master of Health Services Management in Clinical Leadership and is recognised as a Hand Hygiene Australia, Gold Standard Compliance Auditor and Assessor.
