Dental practices should ensure that all staff know what to do in an emergency situation, including when a patient suffers an anaphylactic response. Australian Prescriber has issued an up-to-date anaphylaxis wallchart which can be downloaded here from the Australian Prescriber’s website, or a free laminated A3 sized poster of the wallchart can be ordered on the same site.
The chart provides information on the correct management of a patient during an anaphylactic event, so you should place the poster in an appropriate area where staff can easily read it. It is also recommended that it be included in your Policy Manual, at Reception, in the bathrooms and with your emergency equipment.
