The WA Dental CPD committee has once again delivered a world-class program for 2022.
Despite the challenges of 2020 and 2021, the WA Dental CPD lived up to its long-held reputation as the leading provider of world-class CPD to WA dentistry practitioners.
According to Director of Continuing Professional Development, Dr Jenny Ball, the committee has planned a comprehensive program for 2022.
“We have the return of some of our favourites and lots of hands-on courses that are very popular,” Jenny says.
Regional members have not been forgotten, with two additional country courses on the cards. There will be two courses in Albany, a return to Darwin and, for the first time, a course in Karratha.
Practitioners are also spoiled for choice when it comes to dinner courses. “There are several dinners planned and detailed in the CPD booklet, but I have a few more dinner courses up my sleeve, so keep an eye out for them,” Jenny reveals. “Dinner courses are always popular – they are short and sharp, and you get your CPD, socialising and networking in.”
It is recommended you book your CPD early, especially when it comes to some of the most popular courses. “The course by Asheen Bahari and Paul Gorgolis (Biomimetic Minimal Prep Restorations in June) is always popular,” Jenny says. “Last year, the Primary Dentition course (which will be presented by Vanessa William in April) was so popular we had to run it twice.
“Endodontic courses have also been quite popular,” she adds. “We have four endo courses this year in a variety of formats by a variety of presenters.
“We will also be adding to the CPD program over the year as we always do, so you need to keep an eye out for your EDMs and on the website.”
As well as new courses, the 2022 program will feature new presenters, including Drs Gaurav Vasudeva, Michael Frazis and Ray Williamson.
Are you on track to clock up your required CPD hours? “This year will be the end of a three-year cycle, so you need to have your 60 hours,” Jenny says. “The cycle finishes on November 30, and you need to have accumulated your 60 hours by then. The Dental Board of Australia does conduct audits.
“You can track your CPD hours by logging on to the ADA Federal website, where you can log your hours, or you can keep a manual log,” she adds.
Jenny reminds members that the WA Dental CPD program delivers quality courses. “You know you are going to get good content by good presenters at these courses,” she says. “Although the Board does not accredit any course, it will give a tick to all courses run by ADA branches.”
